Berita Penyanyi The Calling Diculik Palsu
Los Angeles – Kumpulan The Calling menafikan laporan mengenai penyanyinya, Alex Band, yang diculik dan dipukul adalah berita palsu yang sengaja dicetuskan bagi mencari publisiti.
Sebaliknya, jurucakap kumpulan itu memaklumkan bahawa kejadian itu benar-benar berlaku dan Band mengalami kecederaan di belakang serta patah gigi.
Band mendakwa dilepaskan selepas dia menipu dengan menyatakan bahawa dia akan menjadi seorang ayah tidak lama lagi.
Persoalan mengenai kebenaran laporan tersebut dicetuskan oleh portal TMZ yang merupakan portal pertama melaporkan mengenai insiden culik itu.
“Lebih baik berlaku jujur….gambar (band) ia tidak menunjukkan dia berdepan dengan ancaman,’’ demikian lapor TMZ.
Portal berkenaan juga menarik perhatian ramai mengenai penculikan berkenaan, yang berlaku lima hari selepas The Calling mengumumkan untuk menerbitkan album selepas berpecah pada 2005.
Kumpulan itu pernah popular dengan lagu Wherever You Will Go, yang berada dalam kedudukan kelima carta du Amerika Syarikay dan Australia selain menjuara carta di Itali dan New Zealand.
The Calling mendapat liputan media selepas penyanyinya, Alex Band mendakwa diculik dan dipukul oleh dua lelaki yang mahu merompaknya ketika dia berjalan ke sebuah pasar mini dari hotel penginapannya, pada pukul 4 pagi.
